Because the coasters are made of vinyl they're sensitive to high temperatures. When vinyl is exposed to temperatures above 30°C, it can deform. 

(The coasters do not have a protective coating, as this is harming the environment. Therefore the coasters can cause ink stains and are not resistant to moisture.)
